DONE!

The grade 4-6 chorus will be singing The Circle of Life and some other songs from the Lion King as part of their winter concert. My art room is next to the music room, and I've also heard the kids belting out Don't Stop Believing so energetically that it sounds there's an episode of Glee being taped next door!

So, we made these big "props" that they will be using in the concert - that's Zazu up top, and below are Simba, Rafiki, and Mufasa. (I hope my spelling isn't too far off on these names.) With limited time, I drew them out, and basically directed volunteers during lunch, and after school what to paint and where. Then a couple of helpful 6th grade boys came out of their study hall to create and hot glue the crazy hair on them. They came out pretty cool but mostly I'm glad they're done!

  1. Wow! These are fantastic! Are they made from cardboard?

  2. Thanks! Yup, they are big pieces of cardboard (from new bulletin boards, or something of the sort). I hot-glued cardboard handles on the backs, as the kids will be carrying them during the songs.

  3. Those are beautiful! I hope they keep them displayed somewhere after the concert!
